What is Shi Zhen Fang?

Shi Zhen Fang, also known as Lonicera & Smilax Combination, is a modern formula designed to address common Western conditions, and was selected for inclusion in our catalogue based on the efficacy of their use in TCM hospitals.*

Shi Zhen Fang is best known for its ability to relieve skin rashes, and may be used both internally and externally as a topical.

What are the benefits of Shi Zhen Fang?

Shi Zhen Fang is traditionally used in Chinese medicine to resolve Wind-Heat and transform Dampness to address both acute and sub-acute stages of skin rashes.

Shi Zhen Fang addresses two stages of "Shi Zhen" skin:

Acute stage: skin rash, burning sensation, itching, blisters, skin erosion in the acute stage, and;

Sub-acute stage: dryness, scabbing, and flaking.

What is the dosage and method for taking Shi Zhen Fang?

The generally recommended dosage of Shi Zhen Fang in capsule form is four capsules, two to three times daily; or as loose granules, 4.5 g mixed with hot water, 2-3 times per day. Topically, Shi Zhen Fang may be applied as a thick poultice. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions, as the dosage can vary based on your condition and response to treatment.

When can I expect to see results?

Shi Zhen Fang typically starts to take effect within days. However, like all treatments, its efficacy can vary from person to person.

Does Shi Zhen Fang have any side effects?

While Shi Zhen Fang is generally considered safe for most people, it can cause side effects in some individuals. Women who are pregnant, nursing, or postpartum as well as people with liver disease, should avoid or use Shi Zhen Fang with caution.

As with any Chinese herb, we recommend consulting with a qualified practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) about Shi Zhen Fang before any course of treatment is started.
