Description

Within this formula, Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Chi Shao (Radix Rubra Paeoniae), Tao Ren (Semen Persicae), and Hong Hua (Flos Carthami) quicken the blood and dispel stasis. In addition, Chuan Xiong guides the other medicinals to the head and sense organs, while Su He Xiang powerfully penetrates and frees the flow of the network vessels and opens the orifices. Sheng Jiang (uncooked Rhizoma Zingiberis) and Cong Bai (Bulbus Allii Fistulosi) also guide the other ingredients upward and free the flow of yang, while Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae) and Sheng Jiang harmonize and regulate all the other medicinals in this formula. This formula comes from Wang Qing-rens late Qing dynasty Yi Lin Gai Cuo (Correcting the Errors in the Forest of Medicine).
