Actions Stinging Nettle is well-known as a gentle, potassium-sparing diuretic. It is considered to be a tonic to the kidney because it is rich in carotinoids and minerals. Even more effective is Stinging Nettle seed, which is a powerful trophorestorative or amphoteric to the kidney. The use of Stinging Nettle seed is recorded in early English herbals and modern clincial use has shown the validity of this herb for mild to moderate degenerative kidney disease. Processed Rehmannia is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a kidney yin tonic. It is prescribed for lower back pain, frequent urination, hypertension and tinnitus. Pellitory-of-the-Wall is used in Europe as a kidney trophorestorative. English herbalists routinely use it for degenerative renal conditions. Cordyceps is an important tonic remedy in China. It tonifies both the kidney yin and yang, as well as the endocrine and immune systems. - Winston
