Dosage
As a general maintenance/prevention formula during cold/flu/viral season, adults should take 2 tablets three times a day or 3 tablets twice a day. This strategy applies during those times when catching a virus is a possibility, but actual exposure is not yet suspected. For example, during cold/flu/viral season people who are susceptible to catching viruses, work closely with children or with sick populations, or are traveling can take this formula as described throughout the period they feel vulnerable to exposure.
As an "Initial Exposure Phase" treatment, that is, when exposure seems likely to have occurred within the last 24-48 hours, but symptoms have not yet developed or are extremely mild, adults can take 3-4 tablets three times a day. This dosage can be taken only for 2-4 days. If during those days the virus is successfully expelled and symptoms never develop or fade to nothing, the formula can be discontinued or returned to the regular preventative dosage strategy. If the virus was not successfully expelled during the 2-4 days of higher dosing, additional strategies should be considered.
Contraindications
This formula is focused on reinforcing the exterior and pushing pathogens up and out. It is therefore not appropriate for conditions with strong signs of dampness, which would require draining downward. For early stages of externally-contracted wind-damp, use Agastache Tummy Syrup or Reed & Seed Formula instead. If there are no heat signs and cough is prominent, consider using Apricot Seed & Perilla Formula. Do not use in the presence of damp-heat or wind-dampness. If chills increase while using this formula and there are no pronounced heat signs, consider using Apricot Seed & Perilla Formula instead.
Actions

Tongue
Normal. If wind-heat pathogen has already invaded, tongue may show redness at the tip. May be normal. If heat pathogen has already invaded, tongue tip may be red and coating may be dry and thin.
Pulse
Normal or slightly weak or slightly rapid, if using as a preventative. Rapid and floating if wind-heat pathogen has already been contracted. If pulse is deep and rapid, select a different formula. Normal or slightly weak, if using as preventative. If treating active warm pathogen, pulse will be rapid and floating or simply rapid.
