Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan
Within this formula, Dan Nan Xing (bileprocessed Rhizoma Arisaematis) and Gua Lou Ren (Semen Trichosanthis) clear heat and transform phlegm. Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae) clears heat from the lungs. Xing Ren (Semen Armeniacae) diffuses the lungs and stops coughing. Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Fu Ling (Poria), and Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) eliminate dampness and transform phlegm. They also help to descend the qi and downbear counterflow. Zhi Shi (Fructus Immaturus Aurantii) strongly moves the qi, thus helping to diffuse the lungs and broaden the chest. This formula comes from Wu Kun=s Investigations of Medical Formulas (Yi Fang Kao) published in 1584 during the Ming dynasty.
