Nardova

This formula provides 1-theanine with hops and three traditional Chinese herbs, albizzia, zizyphus, and nardostachys: all are recognized as anxiolytics (relieve anxiety). The amino acid 1-theanine is found in tea leaves, Japanese researchers have reported significant anxiety relieving effects when it is taken at a dosage of 50-200 mg each time (obtained from drinking about 6-8 cups of green tea). For use as a supplement, 1-theanine has been enzymatically synthesized to yield a nearly pure compound. Current recommendations for dosing of 1-theanine are usually 100 mg each time (the amount in one tablet of Nardova) 2-4 times per day. Hops, a flavor ingredient of beer, is used in Europe for alleviating mood disorders, anxiety, and insomnia, often in combination with valerian. Nardostachys is a close relative of valerian; it is reported to be equally effective in alleviating anxiety, pain, and insomnia but has a better safety profile. Albizzia(bark) is classified, along with zizyphus as a heart nourishing sedative, but it is used particularly for cases of anxiety and depression, due to its qi regulating functions. Zizyphus has long been one of the most important Chinese herbs for alleviating "heart spirit agitation." Both albizzia and zizyphus contain calming saponin components. All the Nardova ingredients all have the reputation of being effective without causing drowsiness during the day, though individuals should evaluate this for themselves in a safe situation to make sure, prior to operating dangerous equipment or driving when using the herbs. Some people who have suffered from frequent insomnia are overly tired and may become drowsy during the day when first taking anxiolytic herbs; that effect will be alleviated when insomnia is resolved.*
