It is famous not only in classical Chinese medicine, but also in Ayurvedic medicine (chiretta seed), where it is also used for infectious conditions with Heat. Recent studies show that Andrographis is effective in inhibiting staphylococcus, pseudomonas, proteus vulgaris, shigella dysenteriae, staphylococcus, and E-Coli.
